    Default Double stack 1911's

Been around for a while, quite a few to pick from, what are the favorites and why?

    9 or 45?

Staccato if you have $$$ to spend, MAC DS9 if you don't.

The three I am looking at, all 9mm:

Stealth Arms Platypus, uses glock 17 mags, and is extremely customizable on their website.

Staccato (formerly STI) highly respected, certified by many police departments for duty use. Expensive mag system. Very flat shooting.

Hybrid: Dan Wesson DWX, CZ75 Shadow lower mated to a 1911 upper. I like the ergonomics of my Shadow 2, but feel the slide doesn’t have enough grip area

Have an STI 4.25 Tactical in 9mm. I did modify the grip to fit my smaller hands better with a double undercut. Factory mags suck and need tuning in my gun. Trigger is around 4-4.5lbs and could be better for the price, but it shoots soft and very flat.

I have an STI frame in .38 Super. Got me to the USPSA Nationals a couple of times and I love the fit and feel of the frame.

    YMMV depending on your hand.

Anyone have thoughts on the Springfield Prodigy line? Or the RIA double stacks?

I have a Prodigy, MAC Defense and RIA all in 9mm. The Prodigy had some running issues until I put in the EGW Ignition Kit, now runs smooth. The MAC Defense I have not shot yet, and RIA I've put 50 rounds through it with no issues. If I were to start over, I would have probably waited for the Tisas to drop to the price is now for $500+/-
