I rarely agree with you politically, but on this I'm in full agreement.

Elon Musk went into the DOGE activities with a belief that they would identify wasteful spending and eliminate it. He was incorrect.

Had everything DOGE found as wasteful been eliminated, we'd have saved the American taxpayer into the trillions of dollars and the swamp of government inefficiency would have seen a significant drop.

Unfortunately for Elon and those who genuinely thought something positive was going to come of it, DOGE was political theater. Nothing more.

Our government needs to start operating like a business where fiscal decisions effect its survival. We need to quit giving money away (including giving "back" to taxpayers). Giving money from the tariffs to citizens (I intentionally didn't say "taxpayers" as many who will receive these government bonus checks don't pay taxes). Instead, we need to CUT, CUT, & CUT some more. Then, any money we see coming into needs to be paid towards reducing the nations debt.

The proposed tariff bonus checks are constituent bribery, just as the Biden Economic Stimulus Checks were. Nothing more, nothing less.

Here's a novel idea: Instead of giving us back money, how about not taking it from us in the first place? Oh, but then non-taxpayers couldn't receive a bribe (er, "refund") and it couldn't be considered "income" for tax purposes.

Again, DOGE was a great concept but the execution was poor. We live within a system where fiscally smart decisions are never going to happen since spending other peoples money is so easy.
