Competition rigs and tac training gear

As hoser mentioned an inner / outer belt would fit the bill. For mag holders the Pitbull tactical, 1 size fits all, mag holders would work as well. From the single stack 22 mags to double stack, no need to stock multiple mag holders. The rubber band X type retention holds up fairly well, it lasted 3 yrs in the AZ sun before they started losing tension. I also keep a few on hand for people who attend training that don't have mag carriers.

I?m partial to the Safariland ALS holster for matches and tactical fun. The ALS lever makes it easy to operate and the click will give the kids an indication they are secure. Taco pouches are great if you see them changing it up over time, and can do 1911, Glock or ruger 22. But they are finicky to insert the mag.

But if it?s their first time I would get a thicker leather belt, the cheapest working mag pouches and a decent kydex holster to start. Once the are hooked think about upgrading.

I use the same belt kit for teaching/training (non-CCW) tactical stuff and shooting competitions. If you're not looking to specialize, it's totally doable.

After breakfast conversation life gets easier. Both minions want to run gear like papa's. A good belt, appropriate holster and double mag pouch/holder with ability to add singles as needed.

Tac stuff is still probably couple years away as most classes we would attend in near future do not require it.

I am yet to see many Competition Shooters who participate in Steel Challenge, IDPA and USPSA with any amount of consistency. Most competition shooters have a preferred shooting sport they primarily participate in then "Dabble" in the other shooting sports. Each shooting sport requires a somewhat unique mixture of gear (Holster, Mag Pouches, Belt, etc) to be optimized for that specific sport. I would suggest you figure out which shooting sport you will be primarily competing in, then build up the required gear set needed for that gun game.

The best source for what is the optimal gear setup for any gun game is to simply attend the matches and see what the heavily engaged competitors are using.
