Default Arrest Affidavit regarding the disappearance of Suzanne Morphew

For anyone that followed the case back in 2020...

    https://www.courts.state.co.us/userf...P6N64pqmXagKCI

Her husband was arrested. The affidavit is a long, long read.

Not often that you get to see the entire basis for things.

Right? Whoever put that together must be hell when responding to memos. I haven't even made it through a fraction. Every media company is probably trying to rush to slap an "investigation special" on air first because it's already packaged neater than the wrapping on Santa Claus' casket.

    So the TLDR version:

Wife wanted a divorce, had a long affair going. Husband was not great with $ and wife had inherited quite a bit. He had a fairly controlling history documented by tons of people. Wife had indicated wanting out for a long period of time, wife finally directly texted husband and said she wanted a divorce.

Obviously, we don't have a crystal ball, but in about 48 hours of that text, there's enough evidence to really point to the husband shooting the wife with BAM (animal tranquilizer), chasing her around the house at 3AM until she was unconscious (takes 4-8 minutes as per an expert), and then from there, it's speculative, but a regular dose of that lasts 4-8 hours in a deer but is quite possibly enough to kill someone outright. Or he did something to finish her off, but its neither here nor there that we don't know "what".

There's enough data to show the husband planted her bicycle helmet off of Highway 50.

All the sheets were stripped off the bed and the hypodermic cap was in her bed sheets. He admitted to using the BAM but claimed it was to shoot deer on his property.

Dogs alerted to a cadaver scent on the dirt of his trailer and his bobcat, and he just replaced the blade of the bobcat that night. He was also looking at an excavator attachment literally just hours prior.

He also visited 5 different trash cans that morning and discarded various things at each stop.

All sorts of inconsistent statements from him and also incriminating info from friends.

Anyway, PSA: A divorce is a lot cheaper than prison. Lol.

This saves anyone from having to read all that.... jeeeprs.

Divorce is WAY more expensive than prison. But it keeps you outta prison. That makes it priceless...

If its women you like you?re better off just getting divorced and finding an upgrade. You won?t be enjoying the company of a woman in prison.

Any opinion is just that, and all are entitled, but if you review the evidence there's more holes than Kamala

So the "altered" 22 rifle was a SBR afterall. Why not just use a 22LR rifle to shoot chipmunks on the property? Even if he gets off on the homicide charge, he will probably get strung up for this.

Judge granted a change of venue today from Chaffee County to Fremont.

I've read through page 100 of the affidavit. Unless something dramatically changes in the last 31 pages, Barry Morphew sure seems guilty.

While you may not want to read all of the affidavit, it is very interesting to read about the electronic analysis on phone locations, forensic computer searches, and vehicle telemetrics. For instance, they note how many times he has his truck doors open/closed at certain places, i.e., "you were stopped at place X and your truck door opened 7 times. moments later, you were seen pushing materials inside a trashcan on surveillance vid--when all the while your phone was in airplane mode."

Also, apparently the FBI has a plane that can fly around and observe disturbed ground.
