It's been a few years since I've sold a firearm.
I got hit with a bunch of bills and need to sell some of my collection. I haven't sold a firearm since before the pandemic. I know a few things have changed. Can anyone fill me in on anything different I should know?
Thanks,
Matt

I don?t think anything has really changed other than the waiting period.
Meet buyer at FFL for the transfer
Agree to buy, collect the cash
FFL will take your information as well - note if they do not pass and you want the gun back you need to go thru the process of check and wait. So I would make it clear if you are or are not willing to do this. At this point you can walk away with your cash.
Background check paid for and completed by buyer
Buyer goes back after the wait is over to collect

If the gun is 50+ years old, under federal and state law it's deemed C&R which is exempt from the FFL/BGC requirement unless it's registered NFA.

Because of the need of the buyer to return to the FFL to pick up, it becomes harder to sell outside of the geographic area you are willing to travel to. Keep that in mind when it comes to pricing or how far you are willing to drive to meet.

Keep in mind C&R firearms are still exempt from the background check and three day waiting periods.
