Truth, ARs are the TVs of the firearm world. Once upon a time, the bargains were $800, now they are cutting down to very low manufacturing margins and the remaining demand is mostly from people coming of age, with a bit leftover from people of lower means coming into windfalls or better careers.

If anyone else wanted an AR, they already have five.

Agree 100% and I know most people with one AR do in fact wind up with several in rapid succession… the “gun bug” is a real thing.

Five is probably a good number. I can’t count much beyond that anyways. Sorta just round to 5.
