Charlie Kirk assassin's alleged gun was powerful, vintage and hard to trace
The alleged use of such a vintage weapon has raised fears among some former federal agents of the potential for other would-be assassins to seek out these powerful, accurate and hard-to-trace firearms.
The authorities have not revealed how they believe Robinson?s grandfather obtained the gun or whether they were able to successfully trace it.
The last line has me scratching my head. If it was the grandfather's rifle, why would they need to trace it further?
They also claim that the M98 was originally an 8 mm but was re-barreled for a more powerful cartridge.
Isn't an 8 mm Mauser and a .30-06 pretty similar ballistically?
