I had the same thought, after hearing that nonsense about “6 months salary on the ring”, and can’t ever forget it… such hogwash. If your fianc?e is eager for that threshold, and doesn’t actively say that’s wasteful, leave her…. She’s gonna cost you. Spending even 5 figures ($10k+) on a ring is plenty. My wife’s ring wasn’t even that much and it’s immaculate and gets compliments all the time, even after 14 years+.
