Congrats on the move! It will probably be one of the best decisions of your life. I will be leaving by summer next year to a place I bought just outside of Knoxville TN. No more family here and I'll be retiring. I wanted the freedom to step outside of my door and use my own gun range without the neighbors going into a panic at the bang bang. The cost of living is also much lower, I bought over a hundred acres for 10 times less than what it would cost In CO. Again congrats and enjoy the next freer lifestyle.

One of the things I found astonishingly easy after I left CO was dealing with various state and local government offices. It was easy in ID. In OK it's even easier.

We recently went into the county assessor's office for a property tax exemption. 3 mins with a helpful and friendly clerk and no more property tax. Same with the OK Tax Commission. I submitted some forms by mail. We have chronic problems with mail service from our local PO here so after 3 weeks and not getting what I needed, I called the Tax Commission office. After a brief hold I was able to speak to someone (again friendly, pleasant and helpful) and made a query regarding my submission. I got the information I needed in about 30 seconds.

The last time I had to deal with CO DOR it took about 9 years to resolve the tax problem the state created. As a matter of fact I'd been living in Idaho for two years by the time it was finally fixed. I only found out because I checked the website that you can look at to find out if you have money owed to you from the state or someone else. No one at the state had bothered to contact me even though they had my address.

I actually think this is my favorite place I've ever lived.
You just can't beat Oklahoma weather in the spring and fall, absolutely beautiful. Bonus, it's the reddest state in the union. We have family there, and were stationed at Tinker AFB back in the late 80's and early 90's. Great people!

Colorado is definitely not a friendly state anymore. There is a local Facebook page that states if the business owner is right wing or supports Trump, they say boycott them. Most of them post anonymously.

We will be moving south. I have five years left, unless I just get fed up, then it will be three. We purchased a small ranch in south Texas about 60 miles off the coast. We have a lot of deer, hogs and javelina. Saltwater fishing is 62 miles aways, freshwater is 10 miles away. If necessary, my three firearms I have left after the boating accident will be moved down there sooner than me.

    To the haters:
Leaving isn't a happy choice but its necessary.
This isn't the Battle of the Bulge where we can just hold on for reinforcements, it's the 1941 Philippines and the battle is lost. And No, we dont have a McArthur to save us.
And yes, if you stay here and get "captured," well it wont be pretty.

I have found since I relocated to Maine that people services in general are so much more friendly in general.

The left wins when they make us attack our own. Leaving or staying is a personal decision. Sure, it's bad, but it ain't Nazi Germany and all that. Jealousy, anger, frustration, all what they want. Don't give them what they want. Fuck them.

Being able to move to a different state that more aligns with your personal set of values is literally leveraging the reason our Constitutional Republic was founded. What could be more American than that? It's the closest thing to free market of government that we have available to us. If Geographic anomalies in terms of climate and commerce opportunities were somehow all equal we'd be more inclined to readily relocate for that purpose. If this happened, state governments would quickly realize how punitive their stupid laws were if one (or more of them) triggered a mass exodus. Sadly, some states of advantages of geography making their citizens more apt to put up with BS governing. I don't get trying to ridicule anyone who simply takes advantage of one of the key freedoms being an American has to offer. Seems a tad petty.

Wow! You guys sure put a LOT of words in my mouth.

Did I disparage him in any way? No.
Did I wish him ill? No.
Did I bring up politics? No.

HE said he was "show(ing) his vote of displeasure", taking his money away and voting with his wallet.
HE told those of us left to keep up the good fight.
HE framed it as an act of political protest.

I asked who these gestures were for.
No leftist gives a shit and will actually celebrate someone moving away with whom they disagree.

If he wants to move, good for him. I hope it works out great for him.

It's guy moving his family for greener pastures, not a heroic act of freedom.
