Woman dies in suspected mountain lion attack, Colorado's first deadly encounter since 1999...

Hikers spotted a mountain lion near a woman who was lying on the ground at around 12:15 p.m. on the Crosier Mountain Trail in unincorporated Larimer County, south of Glen Haven. One of the hikers, a physician, examined the woman and couldn't find a pulse.

Two mountain lions near the scene were euthanized Thursday, but the search continues for a third mountain lion...

Look for a hunting ban in this year's legislation.

    I saw that documentary-
    “Cougar meets & eats Cougar”

Seriously though- sad deal for all involved. Cats are in their environment doing cat stuff and some stupid human comes along breaking cardinal rules of being in the cats environment.
    A- you are now prey
    B- don’t go alone
    C- be prepared

And the cats die because of it.

Just seeing that statement tells me everything about the individual, his comments, and the analysis of their “studies” that I need to know. They’ll set up their “studies” and cherry pick the results to receive the outcome they prefer to be published. They are anti-hunters who will do and say anything to stop all hunting.

This comment, and others from this individual reflect a 2+2=5 analysis of the data.

People hunt where allowed and where game animals exist. If there are no game animals for predator animals like mountain lions to harvest, those predators will look to pets, livestock, and, of course, humans, or move to areas where game animals can be found. Additionally, when mountain lions or other predators, roam into areas where hunting is restricted, they don’t feel the pressure of fear of humans, making them more likely to attack versus flee. Overall, however, mountain lions will be in places people tend to hunt since that's where the game animals (mountain lion food) can be found. Saying that mountain lion attacks occur more frequently in areas with extensive hunting because of the hunting is dishonest at best - but it makes for a good sound bite for those who don't know any better.

As Eddie alluded, those behind the failed 2024 hunting ban on mountain lions will appeal to our anti-hunting/anti-gun state legislature and get the ban back on the ballot. This time though there will be a stronger propaganda campaign, using this woman’s death, as evidence why the ban is so desperately needed.

BTW, CO mountain lion meat is some of the best, tastiest meat I've ever eaten - so hunting mountain lions isn't just about "trophy hunting".
