    Default Sub-sonic 22LR

My Savage MKII is now a dedicated sub-sonic rifle.

I zeroed it at 50 yds and on a good day I will get 5 shots 1/2" groups at that distance with Federal AE Suppressor, 45gr.

When I say on a good day I mean that I do get quite some inconsistency in velocity, which, compounded by the low avg velocity of 948 fps, causes some serious flyers.
It is not uncommon to see a shot 1"-2" high or low from an otherwise quite nice group.

I know it is the ammo because there is a significant difference in the sound signature (what little of it there is).

Is that just the nature of the beast or are there more consistent sub-sonic loads on the market?
    Any recommendations?

If I remember correctly most match ammo is subsonic for accuracy purposes. I am in the camp that the suppressor specific rim fire ammo is kind of Market wankatiering. I do have a batch of gemtech suppressor ammo that sounds really nice and reliable in my semi autos

My feedback add 11-12 ish before the great servpocaylpse of 2012

This is actually the name of the game with high-end and super high-end 22lr. You're paying for the QC & consistency. Add in "lot testing" of high-end 22 ammo and the rabbit hole deepens further. I would test a few varieties to see which your gun likes, then stock up. SK is stuff pretty good for the price. I have had great luck with SK Red and Pistol Match (Green box and slower). If I can get groups about the size of a dime at 50y and a quarter at 100y, I am happy.

FYI: Many of the 22lr ammo varieties are the exact same, but tested better or worse. Lapua CenterX vs Xact vs Midas for example.

Ammo could be the difference in a 1st place and 10th place finish in some disciplines. An extreme example, would be a gold vs silver medal.

Almost all of it unless it's specifically marked otherwise (biathlon/semi/etc). Many have velocities listed on the box or website. Most are 1020-1080fps +/-. It's all we ever use for matches.
