Default Address change for NFA trust?

    Howdy NFA expert friends!

Moved to a new address in Colorado since my NFA trust was initially created. Do I need to update the trust to reflect my new address? Can I still buy an NFA item with the trust "at our old address"? Does address even matter? The trust doesn't explicitly list an address.

As always, I appreciate the advice and recognize that unless stated otherwise, this isn't official legal advice.

    Not a lawyer.

Find the change of address amendment form that came with your trust, or go download one, and fill it out. If you don't have one, they are pretty generic and probably easy to find. It might need to be notarized. That should be all there is to it.

Thanks for the quick answer. It did not come with one.

ETA: the only reference to address is in the cover letter from the attorney that built the trust documents. The trust itself does not list an address within the trust document. I just don't know if that will cause an issue next time I buy an NFA item because the last time I did, there was a different address listed with the trust on the Form 4.

You could update your address with the ATF for the items you already have, if you are concerned.

File a Form 5320.20 with the move being perm.

After more research, I agree with mb504.
It makes sense the trust doesn't have an address. I went and checked mine, no address.

If it’s one of my Trusts, there’s no address listed, so there’s no need to change the address *on the Trust.* I can’t speak to a possible need to do a change of address with the ATF because I haven’t kept up with the pertinent laws and regulations.

It certainly is one of your products

This aligns with what I suspected. Thanks!
