    Default 10mm ARs

Anyone else recently build or currently building a 10mm? The recent resurgence in the 10mm Auto has all sorts of things coming out chambered for it; I have wanted a 10mm AR for years (along with a .45 ACP, but that'll be a different thread) and finally got all the pieces late last year for one. I picked up an NFA C-45 lower on closeout when they were getting rid of everything leading up to "going wholesale only", thankfully they changed their mind on that. My brother pointed me to Delta Team Tactical when they had some 10mm uppers at good prices, and with the scarcity of 10mm uppers I was less picky about where it was from than I was "it was available". I am always picking up bits on sale here and there so I had most everything else sitting in my project bin.

So I am now in possession of all the pieces to put one together, except for the trigger I still need to decide on (I stole the one intended for the 10 to go in my 45ACP, because I built it first) and am now trying to decide what color I want it to be. I have matte black, OD green, parkerizing gray, dark gray, sand tan, and Magpul Flat Dark Earth (which is closer to coyote) Alumahyde to choose from. Just gotta decide what the winning color will be. Probably not OD, since the AR-10 I am waiting on to arrive is OD. The parkerizing gray tends to have a green cast to it, like an old M-1 Garand. I kind of think the Sand Tan is a bit too light. The Magpul FDE is a bit closer to a Coyote, so I'm kind of leaning toward either the dark gray or the FDE. Whatever I decide on, the furniture is going to be done to match, even if I get a gray or FDE grip I'll Alumahyde it to match. The stock will be the Battlelink Minimalist; I have about three others with this stock and I really like it. My old standard used to be the Magpul CTR, but I wound up with a Minimalist that I found on sale a couple years ago and just love it. The controls will all be left black for contrast.

I've always been a 10mm fan, my favorite being a late 1st gen Colt Stainless Gold Cup Delta Elite, and I am really looking forward to an AR in 10mm.

An AR in 10 mm had never crossed my mind till your post. Now I want one, too!

I built an AR in .357 SIG years ago, but no 10mm.

You're Welcome! I've been wanting a .45ACP for years, back since the only lower option was Bazooka Brothers but when I went to order the NFA C-45 and discovered it would take .45ACP mags AND 10mm mags, somehow two of them wound up getting ordered. DTT sometimes has 10mm upper options...and that was it. My brother brought his down last October and it shot soooooo nicely. A full house 10mm load with the right bullets in a 16" barrel has some serious energy, enough to be a legit hunting round out to 100 yards or a bit better. Or, a very nice home defense carbine, and pairs well with a Glock 20 or 40.

I've never seen a barrel for a .357 SIG AR, but it sounds intriguing. I've never had anything chambered in that round, though.
