"There are no finger prints under water."
Two years ago today, I brought home Popcorn. Or as her registration says, Princess Popcorn Waddlebottom.
From tiny to insolent, in only two years!

Great looking puppy!! Is he past his LAND SHARK days yet? GSD's are great to train. The first thing I teach is how to hold eye contact the second is who is the dominant one in the pack. Mine is one of the best gun dogs I have ever had, she loves going to the range with me.

He's still in the fur shark stage. He's not breaking skin as often, but he's still at it.
He's a treat whore, so he stares at the treat when it's in the hand. I will hold the treat up to my eyes or put it behind my back to make sure he's making eye contact when I train him. Really smart and does great with sit, stay, wait, and come. Working with him to make sure he knows his default position when we're on walks.
I've been popping air ballast around him when I get an Amazon shipment to make sure he's desensitized to it. What kind of ear-pro do you use on the dog when you go to the range?
He knows who's alpha.

Its the dog and the training. I started Gabby early with things like pots and pans and introduced her to more and more noises. I think it may be because she hunts birds, its funny because she doesn't " point " but she will lock up and then flush then go to retrieve and she doesn't like the bird in her mouth and she will drop it about ten times before getting it to you. Alone in the field, she is great but with other dogs, she thinks its playtime.

He may see you as alpha, but wait till his testostorone hits. Unless you want to breed him, fix him before that happens. Ours went from obedient pup to insolent teenager in a week. He would test me on everything.
He started humping his bedding at week 11. Must be crazy having to grow that fast and deal with the hormones at the same time. I tell him "NO!" and he barks back at me. The insolence is strong with this one. I see the defiance in his eyes, even though he caves and gives in.
We were contemplating waiting for 18 mos. for neutering as there are some vets that think waiting will create better bone density and possibly avoid hip and elbow issues. We discussed with our vet and there's really no science behind that idea. At this rate, he'll likely be fixed when he's 6 months.
