It looks like I'm in the same lot as most of you; it depends on the situation.

Like Newracer, if it looks to be a short term situation then I'll hunker down @ home - solidifying my personal defenses here @ home and ensuring I have enough resources at hand in case it lasts longer than expected.

Nut, like Newracer, if it looks like it will be a long term situation, my family and I will be hooking up with best friends/hunting partners and heading to the mountains. There is a place I used to camp every summer that isn't easy to get into. The back way is difficult, even for 4x4 traffic. The front way into the area has a double choke point that could be easily defended, if need be.

First choice is to bug in if we can. If we have to leave we are going to a relatives house far from the city.

For me it would depend on the severity of the issue. If it was a big, long term thing I've discussed this with a buddy who lives out away from things, and we'd go there with the appropriate types and quantities of supplies. I have quite a bit of what we'd need to make do. If it was something shorter term, I think I'd ride it out at home so as to be closer to my base of operations and stock of supplies.

First plan is to bug in, but looting Walmart does sound like fun

Hold out in my supplied house as long as it is safe, then bug out if need be.

While my initial instinct is to bug out, the reality is that's probably a very dangerous decision if you're trying to get out with the rest of the masses clogging up the roads. Hunkering down in my house till the dust has settled is probably the best bet since I've got kids and all my supplies are here. If it's disease or a natural disaster that doesn't make my home toxic, then staying put is the best plan. If the metro area gets nuked or what not, then it doesn't matter since I'll probably be dead or dying.

"Code Blue, isle 3... repeat: Code Blue, isle 3!"

Totally off topic... back in my undergrad we played lasertag in the library stacks. Big university, library open 24/7, about 4 levels plus the basement archives. Each level has study knooks, bathrooms, etc. Late one night, we took over the top floor, set up two bases, one at end end, turned off the lights and went at it for hours. We got stopped once by the security guys but after they saw what we were doing etc, played a quick round of CTF with us and then went on their rounds. Fun time to be had by all, great memories... I miss school. HAHA.
