Methanol is corrosive, ethanol is compatible with most vehicles produced after 1990. Ethanol absorbs moisture out of the air, thus is hygroscopic. It's true you need more alcohol to travel a mile than gasoline. Some vehicles are already E85 compatible. There are devices that can be added to let you run your vehicle on a mixture of ethyl alcohol and gasoline. It usually involves lengthening the time a fuel injector is open. You could make a case for Diesel just purely on the fact that it last a lot longer in storage than Gasoline. Diesel can be good up to 10 years, where gas (even with Sta-bil) might give you two.

Another good point about Diesel is that in a SHTF scenario, most places will be selling out of gasoline long before they sell out of diesel.

Speaking of K-1 Please do not spend the $7 per gallon that it costs at HD or Lowes. I have it on hand but also use it to heat the garage. I paid $2.99 per Gallon this morning at Chief petroleum here in the springs.

Is K-1 kerosene?
