Government Disaster Training

I can't imagine how boring and repetitive that must be! Good grief, leave it to the government to waste your time year after year on a subject that I'm sure most 6th graders understand!
I mean sexual harassment 116 times? Wow.

Back on a serious note, is there much value in the classes offered? How would you utilize them without working for FEMA?
They definately interest me..

Never had an issue but it is just one of the things like "OPSEC" that after 29 years gets a little stale? when they keep showing the same thing over and over.

Not to mention the Force Protection training required for USAF, it's civvies and contractors. I retired 4.5 years ago and this is the EXACT same (not a thing has changed) training I had to make my unit complete and track.

The Air Force Information Assurance training is the same way but this has only been about 3 years since they updated it last.

These Incident Command Courses (ICS) courses are designed for responders involved in federal level event. All responders LE, Fire, EMS, Public Works, etc must takes these courses if they will have their hand in an event that becomes a federal declared disaster.

IS100 and IS700 Intro to ICS and Intro to NIMS are mandatory for all responders
IS200 is for those that will be used as a single resource
IS800 is the National Response Plan - this class is a brain drain and goes through all the process that go on during a disaster

The other classes there are good for general info

Unless you work for a local, state, or federal agency or volunteer for one these are probably not necessary, however they are free and pretty easy to get through so there really is no harm.
