Thumbs down Internet Explorer 9 DOESN'T Work Here

I've been off the forum for several weeks because suddenly I was unable to post any more! I narrowed it down to the only thing being different was that I had upgraded my computer to IE9.

I finally found a computer still using IE8 to see if I could get in, and all is as it was...

I don't know how to uninstall IE9 from my computer, but unless the forum gets upgraded, I'll either have to borrow a computer like I am doing now, or move on.

The symptoms that I experienced are as follows: I could sign in and read the thread as normal, and when I tried to reply to a post, I would type my reply and hit the submit button. After hitting submit, it would erase all of my text and give me an error messege saying my post was too short and I need a minimum of 2 characters! Isn't that special

Maybe the folks who run this forum are aware of this and are already working on it... I sure hope so.

    Internet Exploder is generally terrible.

    http://google.com/chrome

    http://getfirefox.com

Both of these are free and will keep you safer.

    Thanks Hoosier,
I found a way to uninstall IE9 and plan to keep it that way.
I will explore the idea of going to the others you mentioned... This old dog has a hard time changing

This website works fine in IE9.

Posting this as we speak (not really speak) on Server 2008 R2 with security turned up. I just added to the trusted sites list.

People blame MS and IE for EVERYTHING.

I haven't used IE in over 10yrs. Recently, I was looking at a CC processor and they required IE to access their gateway. That was pretty much a deal breaker. Who writes a program to only work on IE?

Been using PC/Mac versions of Firefox with no problems. Plus there are some great add-ons. No stability issues.

I had this problem too. Sorry I didn't post up about it. IE9 is just an upgrade for IE8. To go back to IE8 go to control panel, then uninstall a program, then on the upper left under tasks click on view installed updates, find microsoft internet explorer 9, click on it then click uninstall.

From what I've read, IE9 is a beta program and is full of bugs.

But please, please, do not look to me to "fix the sites problem". It is NOT a site problem. If you use IE9 and sites don't work, do me a favor, call microsoft, and politely tell them to "fuck off". I'll put it in nuts and bolts terms for you. Everyone else makes either metric or standard bolts. These would be firefox, chrome, opera, etc. Microsoft makes triangular shaped nuts that are in-between metric or standard sizes, but somehow it's your sockets fault that you can't get the nut off .

Sure, all the tool manufacturers could make all their sockets in triangle shapes in sizes like 9.666mm, 11.437mm, and you could get those Microsoft triangles off so you could swap hardware, but then it would be a pretty useless socket set.
Well, I've had exactly the same problem as FF. I quoted this post, and typed in my response, and the quote was all that got put up.

I've since switched back to IE8 as well, and it's working again (witness the way I can now edit this post).

You know, not all of us are computer geniuses. Not all of us are computer geeks or nerds, either. I, for one, spend my work day USING a computer but I no longer have any desire at all to know how the shit works behind the scenes; I'll leave THAT for you younger folks. But the most of the responses to the OP are not a lot of help. Largely, they're simply a swipe at MS (deservedly or not, I'm not going to judge), a defensive response, somebody with the "mine is better than yours" mentality, or blaming it on the operator (when many of us operators have no idea that it might be a simple security setting or, for that matter, how to turn the goddamn thing off).

How about a simple suggestion, such as "Uninstall the IE8 upgrade". Or, something like, "Google Chrome works for me". But most of the replies here were worthless. And it's one of the reasons I spend less time every day on the internet because I get tired of dealing with the "experts" out there who seem to expect everyone else to be an expert, too (unless, of course, somebody else's opinion is different from the said "expert").
