    Default 10/22 front sight removal

anyone remove the front sight on a 10/22? it snags on things when i carry it around in my truck, but if i removed just the sight, it would still leave the dovetail mount, which appears to be part of the barrel itself. Could mill it off, probably the route ill end up going, just thought id get some input on it.

If you have no love on how it looks without the front sight, you can just dremel it down.

Take it to a smith and have it removed for like $15?

chuch it up in a lathe, turn down half of the bbl portion and thread it 1/2 x 28 for your suppressor, which you know you want.

not sure he can even turn on his power tools for that price... im not talking about just removing the sight from the dovetail, im talking about removing the mount that the sight sets in so the barrel is smooth.... looks like its part of the barrel though.
buying a new barrel might be the way to go.... looks like i can get a threaded barrel for around $150

Oh, then I suggest what Jim said. Thread it and put on a thread protector.

Punch and hammer from left to right. Easy enough takes five minutes. Have removed many of them.

Then if you dont want to put it back on, grind down the dovetail.
