    Default Rattle Snakes

Does anyone here hunt snakes?I just bought 52 acres and wanted to see if someone would be intrested.TY.Would prefer a 22 over a 12 guge, but don't really care. When is the season for hunting them in CO?
I'll put my number on here when it gets closer to season,if you find any bull snakes where you live bring them on down

I would love to hunt some rattle snakes. It's just a long drive for me. If I'm ever down there i'll email you.

I've never hunted rattle snakes, but I've got a shotgun. I'd love to walk around and shoot some snakes. Did you want their bodies as intact as possible so that you can tan the leather?

a real shotgun is overkill.. I use a .22 loaded with shotshell.. they're not that dangerous..

any handgun with shotshell ammo is plenty to take down rattlers..

you've also got to ask what the rattlers are eating, and address that, too... that's how I handled my rattler problem here in Penrose

    Hi Brokenscout..

Is that broken as in not running IHC Scout? Just curious..

I have 40 acres south east of Pueblo and 2009 was a bumpercrop year for prairie rattlers. You can do a forum search to see pics of a large one I shot back in October.

I use a 12 guage with #7 or #8 trap loads. These will atomize a rattler from 20 feet, or if you get a little closer, you can take one's head off pretty clean.

I hunt them as a safety measure as I have small children and dogs. Non venomous snakes are always welcome at my place for rodent control, but rattlers are shot on sight.

If you are interested, you are welcome to come out to my place to hunt them for their skins or meat or whatever. As long as you are a safe hunter and observe all proper firearms handling protocols, I would welcome the help. I shot six of them last year within 50 yards of the house.

I almost went out last year - I WILL go out this year. Perhaps we can set up a CO-AR15 Rattlesnake Hunting Day somewhere?
