And if we could only get Obama to show us how to cross the pit barefoot.![]()

Only cool people get told about them. I turn around and tell you guys.

Going up to Pawnee Grasslands area tomorrow with my grandpa. Apparently there is at least one rattler up there right now. I'm bringing my shotgun with some 7 1/2 field loads in case I see him. Should I try and just get his head to save the body for anyone here who wants him? Or is one snake not enough to bother? I'm leaving tomorrow around 8:00am and live in Westminster if anyone near by wants me to bring the snake back for them. Should I bring a cooler or something?
"There are no finger prints under water."
I'll take a free rattle snake if you get one, they are tasty. I would highly recommend cutting the head all the way off and burying it before you bring it back.
Cool, will do. What is the reason why you do that?
Should I just pack a cooler and throw it on ice? I'll let you know by tomorrow. We don't take I-25 on the way back though. Can I meet up with you on Sunday if I bag one?

If you accidentally get an appendage near the mouth you can still get a venomous bite, even after they are dead. Just a good safety step.
Yep cooler with ice would work, and Sunday should be good for me.
True, often times for hours after they are dead the head can still "bite", plus accidental scratching on the fangs can get you a good hit of venom.
I'm a bit concerned here though. Praire rattler hunting doesn't officially start until 15Jun. From the DOW website: (http://wildlife.state.co.us/Hunting/...tesandFees.htm)
Prairie rattlesnake......Dates: Jun. 15 - Aug. 15, 2009 andJun. 15 - Aug. 15, 2010......Area: Statewide
