Mostly I am trying to get prepared for economic meltdown/dollar collapse and Govt. clampdown on civilians.
After that...

To me the underlying issue with any of these scenarios is people. A single human being is intelligent, clever and in general can be dealt with. People, however have the tendency to act like fcktards when the SHTF. Therefore, my main concern is not zombie, virus, meteor, tyrant, government, food shortage, no hairdryer, whatever... My main concern is keeping the muzzle pointed at all the dumbass people who will panic, lose their sense of morality, and in general act in any way that endangers me and my loved ones.

I don't think you have to be prepared for a specific scenario. It would be like asking why someone carries concealed, for muggings, carjackings, assaults.... I carry concealed for all those reasons and any other reason that might require using a gun.

Same thing for being prepared for a disaster. Being prepared if you have to stay home for a few weeks, or leave for a few weeks. A decent firearm, some food, water and medical supplies and then a long term plan on how to keep replenishing them as needed.

As to which cause of a disaster is more likely, all of them are extremely unlikely....

30 days worth of food and water so you don't have to leave the house is good. So where you gonna poop? My guess is that if society collapses and the mob is rampaging through the streets, public sanitation may suffer from technical difficulties.

thats why you store water, just because the water is off doesnt mean the drain wont haul poop away from your house. fill that tank with rain water, and dont flush just because you pissed in it. keep an extra phone book around too
