    Default 10/22 Barrel and options

    Ladies and Gents,
Surfin' around online there seems to be a myriad of after market barrels and rings for the 10/22 but they are all the same. I have a want that is particular but cannot seem to locate it. Can you help?

    1. I would like to find an 18 inch bull or .920 barrel that is fluted, blued/black in color, with rifle sights, and a threaded end. The rifle sights is where it becomes a no-go as it seems everyone expects you to have a scope. I don't want to install rifle sights myself and I have no equipment or faith in my mechanical abilities, lol. I want both functions (scope ability and irons), which lead me to the second hunt:

    2. Scope rings that have a "peep" hole/see through to still use irons... I've seen them for more expensive rifles but not for the .22lr. Any help out there for this one?

    Thoughts?

For sights, I think tech sights are the best. http://tech-sights.com/

I like that. Looks like an old M1 setup. Clicking on 10/22 and scrolling down about half way, I LOVE that barrel thread protector witht eh dovetail so you can put in the front sight. That's kewl!!

However, still does not solve the problem of a rear sight and scope at the same time....

    Still looking.

You are right, the tech-sight mount to the rail holes so you can not have both at the same time. You could get a standard Ruger front sight (barrel mounted) and the slip on dovetail to hold the end sight. Would require some smithing but not much.

Using the tech sight front mount... does anyone know of a fold down rear sight that will fit on the rear of the barrel to complete the iron sight setup?

I really would like the functionality of irons and scope.

If you get a good picatinny rail to mount your scope on you could use just about any flip up rear sight for the AR platform.

I am sure with how popular the 10/22 is there is someone out there making one, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: Actually now that I think about it. When I cleaned out my gun tool box today I think I had a 1913 type scope rail for a 10/22. If it is something you are interested in let me know I will dig it out and get you some pictures.

    KC,
Thanks for the offer, but I have a rail on my 10/22. The problem I am trying to find a fix for is a way to have both capabilities of irons and scope... But it seems to me that may not be possible. Everyone uses scopes. What ever happened to range/wind estimation and aiming with irons?... am I THAT old already?

So I am trying to find scope rings that have a peephole type alteration so I can still use irons, or maybe some sort of FTS (flip to side) rings... But when I start thinking about all this it gets a littel confusing as on a FTS ring, the scope would sit too high for my cheek weld, etc. Plus, on all the aftermarket barrels I find, none do irons.

The problem with flip up BUIS on the rail of the 10/22 is that it won't coalesce with the front sight due to height. Also, they both should be on the barrel for scope clearance.

    Success!!! http://www.leupold.com/hunting-and-s...fleman-mounts/

Could someone please help me decipher and figure out what the model number or whatever it is I need to use to order this. I'll need the mount and rings model numbers.

If you look at the link posted above, in the center of the page are three mounts/rings. I am desiring teh information for the third one counting left to right. Again, it's for a Ruger 10/22 if that information is needed for the chart deciphering... Thanks for your help!!

Firearm chart posting is located here: http://www.leupold.com/_pdfs/RiflemanMount.pdf
