Default Vmax OAL to long for my AR

Tried to search for this, no luck. Sorry if it's been covered. Just got my first AR. RRA 16" coyote with 5.56 NATO, 1 in 9 twist. I am starting to work up loads for my new toy. Measured OAL with 55gn vmax and get 2.375 touching the lands. Too long for mag. Have any of you guys already found a 55gn varmint/predator bullet with an ogive that will get me to the lands and fit in the mag. Thanks.

    Default

Winchester Supreme loaded with Nosler Ballistic Tips are loaded to an OAL of 2.20-2.203

I load my AR rounds with just about anything to a 2.245-2.248 OAL. This fits in any mag including P-mags and chambers off the lands and groves in three different AR barrel manufacturers. Your OAL limiting factor should be the mag. If you chamber is the limiting factor, you might want to recheck your throat measurements. I don't doubt there's an AR out there with that shallow a throat, but I have yet to see an AR where the mag wasn't the OAL limiting factor.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Anyone that thinks war is good is ignorant. Anyone that thinks war isn't needed is stupid.

Thanks SA. Your right the OAL limiting factor is the mag at 2.260". I'm probably showing my OCD side and going at this like a bolt gun. Find the OAL with the bullet touching the lands then seat .010,.015,... off the lands to find the sweet spot. I probably should research less and shoot more.
