    Tried twice. .

Just sat through Tim Burton completely butcher Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children. I understand culling minor characters to speed up the story, and making some changes for the screen, but completely, and unnecessarily changing characters is annoying and insulting to the original story. The movie strayed very far from the book, but there are three books, and we've only read two chapters into the second book, so I'm not sure if they incorporated some of the second story line or went full retard on the script.

Mr. Church on Amazon Prime. Surprisingly good movie with Eddie Murphy-not a comedy,

This is why I don't read books.

I want to be able to enjoy a movie for what it is and not have a pre existing story to have to compare it to.

What makes it worse is when great books are turned into great movies (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, even Game of Thrones) and done true to the story. That just proves that films can do books justice, and when they don't, makes the producers/directors look like a bunch of assholes.

The Martian- I think both the book and the movie were great.

I wanted to read the book before I watched the movie but never got around to it. Like Ray said, I'm kind of glad I didn't because I really liked the movie because I had nothing to compare it to.

I'd still recommend reading the book. There are some differences and a lot more details on things. It's a good read.

For as much as I dislike Matt Damon and his (lack of) acting ability IMHO, I did enjoy The Martian.

But I also watched it free, and probably wouldn't have paid to see it given it has Matt Damon in it.
