Just watched it last night thought it was good. Enjoyed the book better than the movie, but it did follow it pretty well.
Agreed. I saw the movie years ago and, even though I'm a MAJOR Sci-Fi geek, could not (for the life of me) understand how anyone enjoyed any part of that movie.
The acting was horrid, the storyline blew chunks, the special effects were special education quality.
THEN.... I read the book about 2 years ago and got to understand why people liked Starship Troopers at all. Heinlein was an amazing writer and whether he meant to be or not, was dead on about the way our nation (and it's politics) was moving. What I find even more amazing about that is that the novel was published in 1959.

Ginsue, maybe you should switch up from sci-fi to fantasy and read the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. It's basically regurgitated Ayn Rand, but with some wizards. Or even Harry Potter for that matter, if you are interested in reading stories where you can draw parallels to how you currently perceive the world economy.

It's camp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_(style)
This is even camp coture, high camp, impressively bad, and all the better for it.
The movie and the book have little in common, but if you tried to turn the book into a movie you'd blow your budget and end up with something like Avatar, with power suits and tanks &c. Also explains why the movie doesn't have any tanks in it.
H.
I thought The Road was so boring. The way it ended was such a cop out (similar to my feeling on Children of Men). Anyone seen Shutter Island? Heard it was good but haven't seen it.
Some I recommend
Transiberian (Woody Harrelson & Ben Kingsley),
Night Train,
and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
I've seen Shutter Island. It's pretty good. I can usually enjoy anything LDiC is in though. Inception looks like it could be something special.
