Okay, so we went to see Mad Max: Fury Road for a matinee on Father's Day. The theatre was packed!
The best way to sum it up was: Post-apocalyptic dieselpunk carporn with lots of action. LOTS of action.
The first fifteen minutes were rough, because I could hardly understand anything anyone was saying. After that, things cleared up but it really didn't matter because the action started in earnest, and it didn't really let up save for a few minutes between scenes where there was ostensibly "character development" but really just served as a showcase for yet more over-the-top vehicles.
This was a fun movie. No dialogue was really necessary to understand the plot: the good guys are going this way, the bad guys want to stop them. You can just turn your brain off and enjoy the over-the-top action sequences, or you can engage your brain just enough to marvel at the insanity of the stuntmen and imagine what fun the vehicle designers had welding things together that were never meant to be joined together.
