My daughter and I go to see violent movies, late at night.
We'd been waiting for "Sucker Punch" for a couple of months now
Last night we wasted our money.
To summarize:
Tiny blonde chick's dad dies, butler type sets her up to make it appear like she went nuts and killed her younger sister. Has her immediately (like that night) committed to a nuthouse.
The nuthouse is some kind of brothel. But as it turns out, the whole brothel thing is in the blonde chick's mind - so it's NOT a brothel, but the attendants do "use" the girls that are there. but you never ever see any sex, it's not that kind of movie and it's perhaps it's only saving grace - that they didn't go down "titillation alley". Just a lot of inference's.
So, each girl has to have her own "dance" for when the customers come to choose them.
The tiny blonde chick's dance is SO mesmerizing, everybody watching it loses track of time and place - it's THAT good. You never get to see the dance (which is fine).
While she's "dancing" she's off in her own mind fighting all kinds of evil creatures out of WWII and comic books, this was the ONLY GOOD PART of the movie, you saw a LOT of mechanically correct WWII guns. She, of course, used a samurai sword and a 1911.
It was a waste simply because there was too much of the brothel thing going on, in her mind she was fighting her way to escaping the nuthouse along with a few of the other girls.
It failed utterly simply because it was so disappointing in the plot department, it didn't really have one.
A huge waste of production money, we should have gotten the hint when the movie had appeared only last week, and the theatre only had about 30 people in it on a Saturday night.
Don't waste you money, really - go read Oprah's biography, or anything else.
You should have put the summary in white so people could high light it. I stopped myself before I read it all. I heard it wasn't that good. I'll probably watch it when it comes out on netflix.
Oh yeah, see if you can get this moved to my "movies" thread.

I was excited because the ad at the theater looked awesome and they used a Lords of Acid song in one of the TV commercials.
So basically you're telling me advertisements can be misleading? HERESY I SAY!![]()
We watched The Tourist last night. I thought it was only okay. I had the movie figured out in the first few minutes. However, since 99% of the time, when I think I have a movie figured out, I'm wrong, I didn't listen to myself; especially that early in the movie. So, the plot led me off track anyway, and I got to enjoy most of the movie thinking that I was wrong, only to find out that I was right at the end, and be kind of disappointed about being right. Does that even make sense?
"There are no finger prints under water."
I'll risk a bad movie to see jena malone.
me likes her.
I know just what you mean.
so this weekend I finally watched 2012 all the way thru (had seen bits and pieces)
in the scene where they take off from santa monica airport and fly over L.A. as it slides into the ocean all I could think was
learn to swim, learn to swim.
Guys, don't waste your time/money.
