    Is that so when the fish pulls, it just lets some line out, then you reel the fish in each time it rests? Interesting...there is so much I don't know about fishing.

    That fish I caught, which I believe was a 9" Rainbow Trout, was so easy to reel in I thought that I lost it.

    yes that's the principal. it can be 2 steps forward 1 back for the entire time with a lively fish.

    catching carp is a good way to learn alot.

    Which can equate to four hours or more with the right critter on the other end of the string...but the end result, if successful, is fairly satisfying.
