There's an acyual range a few miles south of BuenaVista..

Otherwise there is plenty of Forest Service land around. Look out for fire bans which typically also mean shooting bans.

Default Places to shoot near Leadville?

Thought I'd resurrect this old thread because I didn't see another. Leadville has a very nice, free, public range open now. No frills but very nice. Just south of town by the airport next to the motocross area. Unmonitored. I asked the nice lady and the Leadville courthouse that gave me a map to it what the rules, hours etc were and she just shrugged. Bathroom also. Don't get caught in Leadville needing ammo though. Only a couple of places sell it. Not much selection and of course horse choking prices. Had some scouts at Turquoise Lake a few weeks ago and we shot there because the area of the forest around the lake doesn't allow shooting.

Great tell everyone....lol. It is a decent range though, as long as everyone cleans up after themselves it will stay that way.
