I think its been 12 years since I've hunted anything, and i've never hunted bear, I would really like to however. My 45-70 Guide gun would be perfect for it. I'll be looking into an over the counter.

I've bought tags for bear as late as the day after the season started. Don't get to go hunting this year though.

Back on topic: I've seen a few bears in my relative short time in Colorado. However, they've all been small black bears... Are they really worth hunting? Do you eat the meat and tan the skin on something that small? I've yet to see anything larger than say, 400lbs or so.
They don't get very big around here. They still make a pretty rug and bear meat is OK, just really greasy.
