I prefer the Rugers. They are a pain to get apart, but other than that I have not major complaints. I've owned the Sig, a Buckmark, and a few Walthers and still prefer the Ruger. Don't have any of them at this point though....hmmm....

I wish i did not buy my p-22 and bought a ruger or the buckmark. for the damn price walther should have made the slide out of Alum, not that shitty pop metal
I like the P-22. There are reports of the P-22 being picky about ammo, so far mine has eaten everything I've fed it so I guess I'm just lucky.
I tried the S&W 22A and didn't like it. It was picky about ammo and I didn't like the sights. It comes with an integrated rail for a scope but I never mounted one.
My favorite .22 is a S&W revolver. Smooth trigger and I hit a rabbit in the head at 40 yards with it (I then missed one at 10 yards but that's not the important part of the story).
I've shot a Buckmark and Ruger. I only put 60 rounds through each and for me they were indistinguishable. They are good for targets and as a hunting side arm for small game.
Consider a MARVEL conversion that is made for a 1911 frame.
Lots of options on 1911 Based frames, stocks, triggers, hammers, available spare fire control parts.
Many magazine options. Colt ACE, Ciener 15 round,
Some companies such as Ruger don't sell fire control parts.
You can use iron sights, scopes etc. Easy take down and excellent service from MARVEL.
If you want light weight consider a alloy 1911 frame.
This pistol will cost more up front. But you will never regret it twenty years from now.
