Does any one want to help me build up my Polytech or could suggest places to get M14 parts and such?Thank you
When I built mine about 12 years ago a retired Navy armorer in Virginia Beach did all the fitting, assembly and glass work and I did most of the parts search (they only thing we kept from the original rifle I acquired was the receiver). I found some parts on Ebay (don't think you can get them their anymore?), some on Gunbroker, but most parts came from Numrich and Fulton, with the barrel from Krieger.
By the time I got the thing put together and back I could have bought 2 ultra match rifles from SA...
Some sources for parts:

Probably the most important things to to on a Poly M-14/1A is to upgrade the bolt to a USGI bolt assy. and have the reciever checked for proper heat treat.
This is for YOUR safety so dont try to go the cheap on it-last USGI bolt I saw for sale was a NIW TRW and it sold for $250.00
Next would be a decent stock (The Poly's are about like a 2x6) from Boyds
and then upgrade to a "Match" gas cylinder upgrade.
From there you should go with a good scope mount-maybe upgrade the trigger group.
Take it one step at a time unless you have $2K to send it to Fulton.........
Go bouce around on the M-14 forums and Warrifles.com

Should be getting the scope mount tommorow. How should I go about checking the bolt to see if it is properly heat treated?
The CMP is selling all USGI M14 kits (still need receiver, barrel and bolt) for $600. They seem to be getting really good reviews.
