Wildlife Commission to decide on reduced hours at Basalt Range
the town of basalt is at it again, they have petitioned the wildlife commission to take up hours of operation at the shooting range. the town is asking the state to close the range at 5:00pm on the weekends. they already got the opening hours changed from 7:00 am to 9:00 am on the weekends. just one more step in getting people to shoot somewhere else, eventually there will be such limited hours and weapons that few people will go there to shoot. and then the town will say "so few people use the facility, it should be closed and made into a park". they will not be happy with any "compromise" until the range is closed, just like gun ban people. take one small piece at a time until there is nothing left.
i am not sure if this is the most direct way to voice an opinion, but this is the only contact email that i could find. send an email telling them why you dont think the range hours should be reduced. the meeting is in las animas. where the hell is that, and why is a topic relating solely to this valley being talked about in some area that is very remote from here? to discourage public participation? i know the meetings are set up long ago, and the agenda is added to periodically, but how many pro range people are going to go to las animas during the week?
