That's a great video. I'm Libertarian, but I can't wrap my head around how anyone can think that open borders in our world environment is a good idea.Originally Posted by RblDiver
Yeah, I think it's a question of ideals. Ideally, you wouldn't really have borders, you'd have free movement, free trade, etc. Then in reality, the ones on the other side of the wall DO want to kill us, not assimilate, etc, hence the need for 'em in reality.
Libertarianism is a Utopian ideology with many adherents just as in love with theory yet blind to reality as Communism has (and I say this as someone who is in agreement with many libertarian ideals and theories). Open borders Libertarians are ideologically possessed ... every bit as ideologically possessed as SJWs are with their post mondernist/Marxist dogmas.
You can't have a libertarian society AND a welfare state ... if you have the latter you need to get rid of it before you think about getting the former (this goes double for open borders). Once the welfare state is gone, open borders won't be so bad (although I'd still argue that they won't be the panacea many Libertarians argue they are ... but without free money to entice the useless they're something we can have a reasonable discussion about).
