    Default How it went down

I was using a 30-06 with 150 grain Federal Power shock. I could tell you it was 1 shot one kill. But I would be a liar. The first shot he was running and I hit him in ass at 175 to 200 yards, the next shot hit him in the spine(and dropped him), and the last shot about 4 inches below the spine shot. My friend called it Buck Fever.

Nice looking animal. Do you know how much it weighed? I've actually never been hunting but am in awe with how big these guys are.

    Do you have anymore pics?

Congrats!!! I've never hunted anything but quail, doves, ducks, pheasants, etc., and that's been 30+ years ago. But I did have a close encounter of the elk kind this Labor Day up in Estes Park. That's me at the far right, with the video camera and tripod. That boy was close.....right after this was taken, he walked up closer to me and stepped over the guardrail and crossed the road. When he came over the guardrail, I slowly stepped over it also onto this side of it.

He didn't mess with me, but he sure gave me the stinkeye. A couple minutes earlier, his whole family was all around me, then he came up to shoo them away from me and back across the road.
