Yup-I stood at the gun counter(alone) forever one day and they kept chatting among themselves and I finally just left after telling the Mgr. what I thought about their customer service.

I will confess I took advantage of their ATI 223 sale this last week, but that is the ONLY reason I went in there. I too live a stones throw away and will NEVER purchase a firearm from them.
About 3 years ago I was perusing the used rack and they had a standard Springfield M1A that had seen a hard life. Front sight broken, rear sight missing and forend cracked. I thought it might make a good project piece if the price was right. I flipped the tag over and they were asking $1299.00
I asked one of the salepersons if that price was correct and she sent the Hunting manager over. He told me that the price was correct and non-negotiable because this was a rare M14.
I chuckled to myself and asked him what made it an M14. He told me that only Springfield made M14 rifles. I asked him if it was select fire. He told me yes, I could select safe or fire.
I laughed out loud and told him he may know all about an A bolt or Citori but he needs to learn a bit about his Battle rifles.
About a year later I learned they are a good place to get rid of a junk gun. I picked up a NIB Bushmaster A2 that just would not run. I changed the gas rings, lapped and staked the key etc but no matter what I did it just would not run. I sent it back to Bushmaster but even when it came back it still would not run.
took it to Gander and they gave me $50.00 more for it than I paid for it. No "Gunsmith Inspection" or anything.
Beware of any used firearm at Gander

I think I remember seeing that one,, I just laughed at it.. I think they were afraid to come over anyway.. Couple of weeks later, I was at the HD near there so I dropped in. The price was lowered by $25...

They had a single shot .410 bore SnakeCharmer in there for like $250 for years. I wanted to go in there and offer them $100 cash for it just to get it off their shelf. Glad I didn't waste my time.

I only buy things there when it's on sale/clearance. For an out doors store they sure are stuck up. I have been to the one on a 104th and I now live in Aurora so I went to the one down here same thing down here. There employee training must have a huge chapter on how to drive customers away.

I also live a just 15mins from there. I was looking for new pheasant gun and they had a very, very, very used SP-87 in the used rack for like 565. Place is a joke. For a big chain store, sportsmans on 84th is ok. I get my #6 shot from there for a good price.
