I've gotten an AK from them, and at the time they were more than helpful, I also got an AR lower from them, and that was on Nov. 2nd. 2008. They were packed! I also called them on the phone before hand, and got treated right over the phone. Although, I do see what you guys mean by their lackluster service. However, their prices are pretty good.

    Thumbs down

Until now, I've been a fan of Green Mountain Family Shooting Center. I shoot there often, and have brought them a significant amount of business by training students there (they get to charge two admissions for a single lane - not bad). Today, however, I had an unsatisfactory experience.

Their website clearly states "When we don't have people waiting at the door for a lane, you are more than welcome to stay as long as you want." Today, a buddy and I were the only shooters on the rifle range. After shooting for a while, an employee came in and told us we had 10 minutes to wrap it up and leave (no offense against the employee - he's a good guy, and was only following his manager's direction). There were 3 open lanes, and there was nobody waiting.

It's their range, so we didn't argue. We finished, packed up, and left. On the way out, I told the manager that it didn't feel right to be thrown off the range, and referred to the policy posted on their website. He made a half-hearted excuse that he needed to let the range "get some rest". Granted, their equipment wasn't working very well, and actually impeded our shooting, but we could have simply moved to another lane if that was his concern.

We are responsible, respectful shooters - always clean up after ourselves (and others), and are quite safe. Maybe he just wanted to close up early, but he sure treated us like crap today. I've never had any problem with any other staff there, so maybe it was a fluke. I wouldn't mind hearing from the owner, but I'm not sure I'll go back.

Wow. That sound like the same story I had with them a few weeks ago. I was shooting at the rifle range. I was having problems with my scope. Just as I got it tuned in I was told to pack up and go! Really?!? I could have move over! There was nobody waiting.

I too would love to hear from the owner! As the taste in my mouth with this manager makes it so they have lost a customer.

This is the closest gun store to me and everytime I go in I am hoping that I have a better experience. But to no avail. I have had OK experiences there, but have had a lot of not so pleasant experience here.

It feels like pulling teeth to get someone to help you. When I finally do get someone, if I haven't already left pissed off, it seems as though I am inconveniencing them. Even when they are not busy it seems the same way. I bought one gun from them and likely won't buy anything else from them.

Now I buy all my guns, except the ones from here, from Warren at G&G Guns on Colfax. Much better people and prices!

I've been in 4 times now and they have always gone out of their way to help. Though I do go mid day on Thursdays 5 of them and 1 customer...

I've been in there about 10 times now, they are just down the road from my office so I figure it's close enough to be worth the wait.....
    IMO,
Getting service is hit of miss with them - even during the middle of the day. If someone brought in an "appraisal" weapon, forget about getting service. They all take turns looking at it and talking about it. I stood there for 15 minutes to get a couple boxes of .380 the first trip in for it and only 2 minutes the next time. When I bought a pistol from them it was 20 minutes to get help. But, I wanted that particular pistol..... 3-4 guys running around, all too busy talking on most occasions - unless you are about 60 yrs old. You can get some decent deals if you are willing to wait.
    Shhhh, be vewwy vewwy quiet.
    I'm hunting papers, huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh.
Burnt gun powder relaxes me....... I like being relaxed.

    +1
I'm very close to them but the service is spotty. And that's when I want to buy something. What if you have a problem with a purchase? How hard will it be to get service then?

Maybe it is just me, but waiting for a few minutes to talk to someone seems like the norm at pretty much any business you go to. For instance, I've never gone into a tire shop of any kind without having to stand in line to talk to someone.

If you're having trouble getting waited on in ANY place of business, take your cell phone and call them. Ask if they're busy, if they say no then say "well how about some help here? See the guy at the counter waving at you, with the phone to his ear? That's me". It'll make an impression.

I had to do that at Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson once, and I've never been back. You want to get treated like something smelly on the ground? Go to a Harley Dealership. Any of 'em, anywhere. Pompous assholes, all of 'em.

Had to do the same thing once in Shepler's, looking for a pair of jeans.
