the gun owner could have lied to you.
the gun owner could have lied to you.
He might have, but he sounded genuinuely surprised and he offered to call them right back and lower the price. He didnt even know I was buying it as he left before I made the decision on Saturday.
He was cool throughout the whole thing.
I believe Dravur on this; while I'm not at all involved with Dravur's situation, I just got home from Green Mountain Guns and apparently they have changed a bit.
I dealt with a fairly tall (~6'3") older guy (salt& pepper hair and goatee, thin in build) and he was an absolute JERK. I don't recall ever having been spoken to so rudely in any store, and I can say that while Green Mountain Guns has been my "go-to" gun store for quite some time, I'll make sure that I'll be giving my future business to any one of numerous other gun stores in the area.
It is really a shame, because they used to be a great place to do business.
Times change I guess.
I normally drop in here once a week because it's the shop in my neighborhood, and the staff is awful. I put up with them because they are close, and have decent prices on select items. There is a guy named mike who I always deal with because he's the only nice one there. His knowledge isn't that great but he always tries. If you need advice go elsewhere. If you know what you want and don't need help, it's worth a look.
Anybody know when they will open again under new management?
This month. There is another thread about it. Search for Blue Core Shooting Center.
"There are no finger prints under water."
very true. Jensen's is great, although being from denver its a far drive so i do not get up there very often. Have you ever checked out 5280 armory? it's pretty nice local store in Arvada. I used to deal with Jensen exclusively because they were awesome and never steered me in the wrong direction. But after discovering 5280 i haven't gone anywhere else. They are always busy, and i mean always busy. And i have yet to not be helped or at least acknowledged by one of the members from the kind and courteous staff. I've had problems with GMG before, i was going to buy a colt AR-15 that was on consignment, had cash in hand and the sales rep told me to "think about it overnight" i told them to forget it and walked out and drove up to jensen... ive gone back to GMG but only for small things i.e. holsters, range bags etc. 5280 Armory is awesome if you haven't been there check them out sometimes. And their open on SUNDAYS, can't get much better than that.![]()
I have recommended several people I know to go to GMG for their firearms purchase or if they are just wanting a place to "look" which also offers decent inventory. I have purchased several items from their store from reloading supplies to firearms and generally had a good experience. The other day I was in there to look around and maybe pick up some bullets for reloading. I heard a gentleman behind the counter speaking to a young couple about places to shoot.
The topic of "Green Mountain Family Shooting Center" came up. As I was listening to the employee, he made the comment, "Well...I hardly believe it will be a "family" shooting center." I asked why he thought that and he advised me Green Mountain Family Shooting Center was going to be run by former Navy Seals and he expected people who weren't in the "tactical" community wouldn't be treated very welcome there and he doesn't have any place in his life for people like that. I found it rather judgemental considering I am a tactical guru myself and just because I don't target shoot with a .22 pistol or muzzle-loader doesn't make me an evil person. I thought it was very poor to make a statement like that without even giving the place a chance. Every shooter has their preference, now if you have a bad experience there, then fine...but until then maybe a bit unfair to pre-judge them. IF GMFSC opens, I'll give it a go and make an assessment for myself. :-)
The character of a man can be judged by how he treats those who can do nothing for him
Well BluCore has their website up and it looks like it's worse than before...
You have to shoot their ammo on their pistol range. On the rifle range you can shoot your own.
See 2nd paragraph: http://www.blucoreshootingcenter.com/range.htm
I don't live by there and have only been there once, but it is such a nice place that I would go once and awhile if the rules weren't so damned anal. I can understand prohibiting steelcore ammo etc, but most shooters aren't going to go shoot there if they make it cost prohibitive or a PITA. If you bought new SD ammo and you want to make sure it functions in your gun, you're not going to go there.
I was hoping this time around the new owners would be cool and cater to their clients.
Loyalty Above All Else, Except Honor
At first the ammo thing pissed me off, but I think I might give this place a try. Having a retail store and range so close to my house will be nice, and their gun rental policy looks pretty outstanding (although I'm sure you have to pay to feed all the guns you rent). That being said, I think they will learn quickly that not being able to use your own ammo will turn away a lot of customers. If their prices are fair though, then what's the problem? If they have a good selection, what's the difference between getting your stuff there and getting it at another store? Just saves an extra trip IMO.
I think you guys are pre-judging this place. Sure it's not fulfilling our dreams for a range, but let's give it a try before we bring the hate, shall we?
