Green Mountain guns is a rather well known gun shop. I visited for the first time recently to peruse the stock and see what they were all about.

The shop is pretty small but there's lots of stuff packed into that little space. The service and selection were both pretty good. They even had some reloading gear although they don't have enough room to sell presses. They do have powder, primer, brass and bullets. Prices were pretty standard for these items.

They had lots of handguns and rifles packed into the little shop. I was looking for 2 things in particular and found neither. I was looking for an FN FAL and a VEPR K (Robinson Arms). I was disappointed to find that they did not have anything like that in stock. They did nevertheless have a large stock of AR type rifles alone with hunting rifles and shotguns.

Service was pretty good. The salesmen were courteous and helpful even though my 2 year old son tore an advertising poster off the wall (and in half). 2 year olds are faster than you think.

They don't have room for safes at Green Mountain guns. They do a pretty good job at stocking a wide variety of accessories despite being in such a cramped location.

I think it was a pretty good shop over-all.

Feel free to provide any of your own experiences with Green Mountain Guns.

It's an ok place, lots of used stuff to look over.

they had lots of AR's and a AR-180b last time I was there.

I just wish I had mo money...

I will say that the "gunsmith" they had there a year ago wasn't worth crap, messed up a simple mauser build of a friends. mind you I did say a year ago... so current results may differ.

I would have to agree... I was calling around for a different handgun 2-3 months back and found a Glock 23 there. Upon going to get it I found the service to be fast, great and they have a lot of other products there as well. I'll be headed back there for sure!

    Good service
Was able to jump on a consignment Colt SP1 for $800 about 6 years ago.
Able to find odd mags in the boxes on the floor that used to be next to the gun carry cases.
Good selection of pistols new and used.
I stop by there when I find myself in the denver area just for fun.

I love the shop and selection. I have only ordered one rifle through them, and my experience with the salesman was great. I wish I could remember his name - probably 50's, balding, brown hair, medium build, 5'10" or so. He took my order, didn't make me put down a deposit, and called me when it was in - right on time. Even let me hold it there for almost a month while I was on vacation.

That being said, I can't stand most of the other employees. There is one man, I think the owner, who is down right rude and seems to know very little about guns. When I asked if he'd gotten a SOCOM 16 in, he didn't know what it was nor would he look up a price for me. I don't know if I'll be back any time soon, especially after dealing with the amazing people over at K2 Firearms Training Center.

I've bought many guns from them, have been dealing with them since 1989. I'll never set foot in the store again.
I left my Para P14 there for them to sell. It's my IPSC Limited gun. I explained all the extra features to them- sights, trigger job, etc. I went back a month later, the gun was not in the showcase. I asked the guy behind the counter if it had sold, he said it must have because it's not in the showcase. He went to look for a check, he said. For about 5 minutes, I hear the sound of a gun being racked then the slide being dropped. After a few minutes of this the guy comes out of the office with my Para and says "we can't sell this, it's unsafe, the hammer follows." I asked if that 5 minutes of noise was my gun. He said yes, it took that long to get it to follow. I explained that what he was doing- locking the slide back, then releasing it on an empty chamber- was abusive to an expensive trigger job and asked why no one had called me. He told me that the owner had called me, then argued with me about it, which pissed me off even more. I asked him why I had come in looking to see if my gun had sold if the owner had told me he couldn't sell it. I also asked him to show me the note on the paperwork that showed the owner had called me. He couldn't, because it had never happened.
Anyway, I took it back and am too old to deal with rude, ignorant people.
    My .02 worth.

ps- just added up what I've bought from them- 9 rifles, 2 shotguns,11 handguns.

    Default GMG - i won't be back

Previous to today my experiences with Green Mountain have all been positive. I've bought a few fireams from them in the past, and thought I'd buy my first 1911 style handgun from them since they treated me well in the past.

I didn't get there till around 5:15 after my drive from work in downtown Denver (they close at 6:00 during the week). I stood next to the case with the gun I was interested in for about 15 minutes waiting while some old geezer went on and on with one of the sale guys about his war stories with the .45 ACP. In fact, several of the store workers looked me dead in the eye but didn't stop to help. Finally one of the other sales people came over and helped and showed me the weapon I was interested in. I went thru the normal routine examination of the firearm, and let him know I'd think about it for a few minutes. I walked outside and called my wife to get her OK, and went back inside about 5 minutes later. Again, nobody stopped to help as I stood next to the case for another 10 minutes. By the time they acknowleged me I simply let the sales guy know I wanted to buy the pistol. He went on to rudely let me know that the CBI was running around 30 minutes and that nobody was going to stick around to do the background check. He said I should fill out the paperwork and come back some other time.

Well, sheesh - you'd think that they'd want to make a quick, easy sale and would hang out for a few minutes while the paperwork was processed. It wouldn't have taken so long if they hadn't ignored me for all that time. I promply slid the CBI paperwork back across the counter and said "no thanks," and left. I live way up in northern Thornton and don't exactly feel like making multiple trips down to Lakewood to be ignored by their people. and waste half my day when I could be SHOOTING.

I'm all for getting the day over and getting home to the family - I have a family too. But to blantantly and rudely ignore me, and to pass up a sale for a 15 minute wait? No thanks. I'll drive up to Loveland tomorrow, pay a few extra bux and buy from Jensen's. Those people have ALWAYS treated me with respect and courtesy, and even opened their doors once on a SUNDAY to sell me some ammo when i just couldn't wait.

Hmmm....maybe my darker skin tone had something to do with my experience today? Maybe - maybe not. One thing's for sure though - I buy 10-15 firearms every year (and lots of ammo to feed them) and Green Mountain will never again be where I buy from.

Is that where that other shop used to be - by the Billiards place?
