Home on the Range

Ok, I don't even know where to start on this one.. I was at a local firing range (I live in Aurora) and shooting my 9mm and a .22.. I got in a conversation with a gentlemen that states, "I don't shoot my .22 at the range, I shoot it at home". I figured he lived on some large plot of land somewhere. Nope, this guy shoots his .22 in his basement in Aurora.

Who cares if it is illegal, the lead dust he is being exposed to is alot worse than anything a cop will do.

As long as He has a good backstop and good ventilation, {ventilation being the key} and it doesn't disturb the neighbors.

No it's not illegal they make .22 bullet catchers you can buy them from sportsman whearhouse as well as many other places. I have shot in my basement many times to test a gun. I have shot all the way up to .223 but like I said it was just for testing.

No I would not actually target shoot in my basement I like my health and breathing that crap would be really bad.

I was playing with some Remington .22LR subsonics in my 39A at the last shoot, and they're really quiet. Not so much out of a pistol - I couldn't tell the difference between the subs and regular CCI Blazer - but out of a rifle they sound like a pellet gun or a gas airsoft gun. Definitely shootable in the basement as far as noise goes.

no idea what the laws are here, coming from texas, its illegal, and i always assumed that discharging a firearm within city limits is not legal anywhere..

Some cities do have those types of ordinances. Most apply to shooting outside in a non-approved area. Indoor/Outdoor ranges that are licensed and such would of course be exempt. Inside your home, unless they can prove you're doing something unsafe, is OK in most areas. That's why Outers makes those cute little .22LR bullet traps. :twisted: Karl.
