Thread: private ranges?

I have been a member of the Frontier Sportsmens Club for several years and my dad has been a member for over twenty. They limit their membership (currently somewhere around 700) based on first-come, first serve. Applications are Due starting March 1st and ending March 31st. They take the first X applicants based on the date the post office processed the letter.

It's current location is in the Falcon area (do you see the big read & white radio tower? It's behind that) but have bought a large chunk of land farther south out on Squirrel Creek road.

The new facility is supposed to have measured ranges out to and including 1000yds.

The current range has a mx lane at 300yds.

If you can't deal with shooting at specified targets, paying attention to range rules, and cleaning up after yourself, please continue to go to public ranges.

They have a fairly simple web site: http://www.frontiersportsman.com/
but that should answer most questions.

it costs $60 a year and they host CMP shoots and have other matches as well.

oh yeah, this is for "shooting" not "blasting". I go to the woods (Nat'l Forest) and find a secluded spot for that!

I can remember going there when I was little with my dad and there was nothing but some cows in a neighboring field.

Now it's almost in a neighborhood. Therefore, they are very strict about where and how people shoot.

I belong to several private ranges.
#1 Publo West nice ranges never crowded and the most choices of ranges around. A several year wait but well worth it.
#2 Frontier lots of members and a small range but not to crowded usually.
They have purchased a large track of land south of the springs but it will be awile before it gets going down there. Time to join that one is now as they had alot of folks not renew this time.
#3 Buffalo Creek. Very nice range with full pits with a 200, 300 and 600 yard line. You can shoot 22's from the 600 yard line and pistols behind the berm, Plans on a 100 yard range going in also in a few year.
very low membership with no waiting. Targets are included in the membership and the place has a cabin to use plus other things also.
Best $65 a year you could spend.

    I hope that helps

Buffalo Creek is up in the mountains in western Douglas County. It's on CR126 about half way between Deckers and Pine Junction (US285). It's a nice range, but kinda far for people in the Springs. Karl.

Yes Frontier is like 20 minutes for me as I live down in sercurity by the post office also.

Buffalo creek is like between 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 1/2 hours depending on trafic and mood (speeding or not up the canon).

On the weekend 17th of may I believe a few of us are having a camp out at buffalo creek. Sat will be fun shooting followed by a barbeque and then on Sun we are going to have like a 30 or 40 round fun match.
We have the range reserved for this so its all ours for the weekend.
We will get up there on Fri and folks can come in Fri night or sat and camp out and shoot or just for sun if the wish or what ever they like.

It is set up as a fal club event but if you would like to come and shoot your ar15's I think that would be allright also. but for th ematch it will be only ar15's and fals.

If you want to go let me know or go to the fal site and under colorado get together let Jerry Corley know.
I think we all tried to have it last year but cancelled due to weather but this year rain, snow or sunshine its on!

Well Jon was almost right. I have not posted since there is a "club" shoot that conflicts.

I have the BCGC range for the 14-15 of May. 14th is fun/shoot/BBQ and watch the NASCAR races on the dish with camping.

The 15th is a FAL 40 rd match. 10-10-10 rds @ 200 and 10 @ 600 yards. There is no fee for the match and there will be prizes. It is going to be a very laid back match.

Well I will try. Saturday is going to be a fun day. sight in, shoot Ect. We will go from the 200, 300, 600 yard lines. Afternoon will have more of the same and we will go up on the berm for some pistol shooting.

The BCGC is going thru some changes and this is one of the events to start it off. In the plans are a 100 Yd range and a Pistol range. There will be days in the future that we will be open to the public.

The match on the 15th is a FAL only match. Starts at 10 AM.

The Saturday shoot is open to whatever you want to bring. The BBQ is free and provided by me. The files is down at the moment but should be up in a few days. Alot of info is there. Back tomorrow. [/url]

I am a member of the Golden gun club which is actually in watkins,CO which is not the far from DIA or SE aurora. It is a pretty good place to shoot while there is about 700 members ( I think) you rarely see more than a hand full on the weekends except when there is a black powder match.

i just sent application and money for royal gorge gun club down in canon city
the wait for pueblo west is insane, i wont live in this state that long to become a member probably.
i was lookin for somewhere that i can shoot at a decent distance and not charge an arm and a leg and ran accross the place in canyon, i am in pueblo west, so canon is the same as driving to springs. i drive to springs almost every day for work so a change is good
