So we went to The Fort the other night. Damn good food. A bit pricey, but I expected that. The buffalo rib eye was gigantic and freaking awesome. Duck quesadillas were great too.

I had to try this bourbon concoction that was flavored with hot pepper, tobacco and gun powder. Pretty interesting. Supposedly it was some recipe from the old west days. I had 2 so I guess I liked it.

No calf fries? The Fort is know for their calf fries.

^^^^^What about the beef/bison marrow bones? I loved that! Haven't been to The Fort in 10yrs since we found the Buckhorn Exchange. They're closer, more laid back, and cheaper.

Serious though, it's not cheap but one of those things every Colorado resident should do at least once. We went there for our anniversary a couple of years ago and had a fantastic time. Try to eat a many different things as you can and don't go for the usual cuts of meat or even types of meat for that matter. They have some exotic meats the likes of which you won't get anywhere else so go that route. Once you're done with eating head upstairs to see one of the oldest bars in the country that was shipped over from Germany some hundreds of years ago. It's also pretty cool to see Colorado state liquor license #1 hanging on the wall behind it. Have the bar tender mix you up and old fashioned and then chat you up with all the history he knows about the place. While our meal was a great I found that our experience upstairs with the bartender was probably the highlight of our visit.

Buckhorn Exchange checked off the list.
Visited today for lunch with the wife. They sat me next to a picture of Bill Clinton!! I was going to ask to have what BJ Clinton had when he was there but I'm might have gotten slapped by the waitress!

I tried the Dutch Lunch and my wife had some bird platter with quail, duck and a game hen. I wound up eating what she could not finish. The food was great, the service was top notch but the dining area was a bit to dark. I spent most of the time trying to see stuff. All in all it was a nice experience.

Why have I never noticed this thread before, I love food! As a previous poster mentioned, I can cook almost anything better than what can be had at a restaurant. However, I still eat out often because the wife hates doing dishes, and I enjoy the experience.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to master Chinese food, and frequent Spice China in Louisville. Best Chinese food I've ever eaten, and I've tried most items on their menu. Their service, cleanliness, and fresh food rival the big chains (ie P.F. Chang's), however the prices are better. Lunch is the best value as with most Chinese restaurants.

I noticed several posters mention Pho, I don't eat Pho (I'll eat it, but soup is not necessarily my idea of a meal), however many of my colleagues do and frequent Saigon Pho & Grill on 72nd/Federal. They have good noodle bowls which I will eat such as the pork or combination.

Farmers Table at Taft and Elizabeth ( Fort Collins) is back open and serving food from what appears to be the original menu. After having been sold and suffering a short foray into (shudder) health foods it has been bought and reopened by folks who appreciate biscuits and gravy. Dang it. Drooled on the keyboard...

The owner of Guadalajara in Windsor purchased the place. Rehired the original cook and some of the other employees.
