I've lived in Bailey for 20 years. There's a place in Marshdale (between Conifer and Evergreen) called "The Bistro".

The only time I've ever been there was about 1992 or 93 when another deputy and I dragged the chef out of the kitchen, kickin' and screamin' and fightin' the whole way, because he'd beat the hell out of his wife before going to work. Quite the entertainment for the diners.

Anyway, it's a fairly upscale place and I've never eaten there. Until last night. Some friends took the wife and I out for my 50th bday for dinner.

It was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere, the drinks the service and especially the meal. I had something called the "Eggplant Stack". It was eggplant with other vegetables covered with cheese and some kind of fairly spicy tomato on top of a bed of pasta. One of the top 3 meals I've ever had at a restaurant in my life. And I've eaten all over the world. The meals weren't expensive but they were on the higher end of average. My entree was $18.50 I think and it was one of the less expensive on the menu. Worth every penny.

I'm gonna have to try some of those BBQ joints mentioned in the other posts...I love BBQ. Serious Texas BBQ in Loveland is my favorite right now. But I've never tried those other places.

Some of my favorites in no particular order:
    • The Melting Pot in Littleton
    • Cafe Prague in Morrison (outstanding eastern European food)
    • The Black Hat Cattle Company in Kittredge

I haven't tried the Southglenn one yet, but yeah, I'm talking about the one on Federal. It's still my favourite pho place.

For overall Vietnamese, New Saigon is my fav.

When a place is dirty, it can have a certain amount of funk to it before I won't eat there. For example, one of my favourite places to eat near my work is Oshima Ramen, and it's dingy in there, but the food is good. I've eaten at some high end places which look immaculate, but the food wasn't cooked properly, etc and I've been sick as hell.

It's right off of Federal and Mississippi pretty much, in the North of that centre on the East side of Federal

I think that's a kickass idea, and they have chicken (I don't eat red meat, and not a huge BBQ pork guy)

They have Really good Chicken. I'm also not much of a fish guy, but their Catfish is tasty.

Never seen the magazine. But every year towards the end of Jan or into Feb there's a period of time where many restaurants participate in the "5280 Restaurant Week". The restaurants will feature some of their best offerings for $52.80 for two people. It's a great way to eat at some of the uppity joints for a decent price.
