    sounds like my kinda place!
I remember those skits well. they were based off of the Billy Goat Tavern on Lower Wacker Drive in Chicago. As I recall, the place is (was) owner by Belushi's uncle.

Actual video from the place: (couldn't find a YouTube video of the SNl skit)

Does anyone know of a good mom and pops type bakery that has really good sticky buns or cinnamon rolls? There's a place in Lakewood called Taste of Denmark that has some great breads and what not but their sticky buns aren't quite what I'm looking for.

I've been told this, by more than a few people. I just need to get off my a$$ and go try them.

Best breakfast I have had up here is "The Original Pancake House", I normally go to the one just east of I25 on Belleview. Just plan on either waiting, or sitting at the community table.

I seldom ever make it up to the Denver/Littleton/Westminster/Boulder area, so I can't speak to those areas.

The Donut Mill off of Hwy 24 in Woodland Park has the most amazing doughnuts of any place I've ever been. I've never eaten any of their sticky buns or cinnimon rolls, but they sell 10"-12" cinnimon rolls!
Their Bear Claws and turnovers, etc. are bigger than my hand (I have large hands too!). The flavor of their products is fantastic and their prices are very reasonable (given the high cost of doughnuts and such these days). They also sell breakfast burritos which meet the same level of taste/price/value as the rest of their products. My buddies and I like to stop by and get something from them on our way up to ice fish at 11 Mile or Antero. Great stuff!

Hell, that's not too far from the South Site it looks like. I see a plan forming . . . .

Donut Mill is great, and for those of us that are Texas transplants, they also serve Blue Bell ice cream by the scoop.

Rudy's Pit BBQ in the Springs is also very good. Chain restaurant that I believe started out in New Braunfels, so it's Hill Country BBQ. For best value, skip the sandwiches and order by the pound (I think it's actually by the 1/2 pound), then ask the cashier for some bread and make your own sammiches!

    Default Springs BBQ

As far as BBQ in the Springs...

There used to be a place called County Line BBQ, just North of Fillmore on the road right next to the West side of I-25. It was the best in the Springs.

Then, when County Line closed, Howards BBQ moved in the old County Line building. I really enjoyed their food and it was my new favorite BBQ place in the Springs.

Then this Howards location closed. Bummer. No good BBQ in the Springs. I recently found out that Howards had another (smaller) location & there are still (supposedly) just as good. No one I've talked to knows the exact location for the remaining Howards BBQ.

Then, this fall, my buddy took me to Rudy's BBQ. While not 100% up to my standards, I must admit that they are pretty damned good, soooo... Now, Rudy's is my favorite Springs BBQ place.

We've still got Famous Dave's (okay, but doesn't thrill me at all)Front Range (2 locations - sucky BBQ and they discriminate against their emlpoyees), and Red, Hot & Blue (ate there once and will NEVER return - they call that swill BBQ? I wouldn't feed it to Marlins dog).

With all of that said, I'd still rather make the drive up to Parker to enjoy a meal or even just a sandwich at Hickory House. Yes, it's worth the drive.
