I've been watching for a nice lever-action in 38 Special over there for a year or 2. They just never have what I want.

Finally found one on GunBroker and bought it it last night.

I'm going to swing by Specialty and see if they will handle the transfer for me.

My wife went there to get a Chrony for my Christmas present. The salesman did not even know what a chronograph is. Wife ended up having to deal with a manager. He was a jerk! :!:
Originally I was glad to have a store with a large shooting dept., but not if their service does not improve. IMHO.

Went there the other day to get a few things. I guess I had forgotten how high their prices were. $6 for a 20rd pack of Wolf, $60 for a $30 rifle bag. Give me a break. Nice selection of stuff there but their prices are rediculous. I guess it will remain the place to fondle a wide variety of firearms before you spend your hard-earned dollars somewhere else.

thats what I do there, handle it make sure I really want it, and then go get it elswhere, and usually at a large savings.

I guess I figure there won't be any place to handle what I want, if nobody buys stuff there.

I really try to buy there, if they have exactly what I want.

I was in a hurry when I bought my Remington 700 Titanium in 260 Remington. They ordered it in from their distributor and I was charged an additional $100 over the 270 Winchester sitting on the shelf.

They both have the same retail price.

You know, if they were 10 or 20 bucks over the market rate for firearms, and cared about their customers, I might actually subscribe to that line of thought. But I don't know many people willing to fork out $100+ over market for a rifle, or double the cost of ammo and accessories, and get treated like a tool. If they go out of business, it will be their own fault.

You can treat your customers like kings and charge a little more, or treat them like crap and charge way less, but you can't treat them like crap and charge more.

Wifey went there to get my electronic ear protecters, and other goodies for Christmas. The person she asked about the kind of headphones that let you hear normal conversation then block the guns bang (she's still learning) and use batteries, didn't know what she was talking about. And then when he showed her where some hearing protecters were he looked at one and said "huh neat"

Does anyone have an actual example of where you've found a firearm for less elsewhere?

Make, model. Where you found it. What the difference in price was?

For example, the Tikka T3 Super Varmint, in .223, has a list price of $1425.

Impact Guns, on the web, lists one in-stock for $1147.99.

The Beretta website says the weight is 6.1lbs.

I ran over to Specialty and checked one out. I want to say it was $1250.

Since they had it in-stock, I was able to discover the actual weight is far greater than the 6.1lbs listed on the website.

I didn't ultimately make the purchase, but for the ~$40 difference (when you factor in shipping and transfer fees), I think it's worth it to be able to examine the gun first and walk out the door the same day.

Sales tax is a consideration, as that definitely pushes the decision in the direction of someplace out-of-state, but that's hard to hold against Specialty.

I'll admit I didn't look for this one elsewhere locally, but my experience has lead me to believe nobody else would have carried it.

I think my previous purchase over at Specialty was a S&W Model 64.

Retail is $632. I think I paid $399. I'd have to find my receipt. Ozark Guns (website) lists one for $450.

Before that, it was a S&W Model 67. Retail is $687, I paid $579. That same Ozark Guns site lists it for $490.

    I paid $739.99 for a S&W Model 357PD. Retail is $1067. Again at Ozark Guns, $724.
