Winchester Stealth II - .308, 2 years ago

    SS-$799 + tax = $854.00

    Gunbroker -$650 + ship ($20) + transfer ($20) = $690.00

I'm not sure it's really valid to compare the local taxed price -vs- out-of-state untaxed price.

But you're still ahead ~$100, comparing apples to apples.

I bought 2 1866's off of GunBroker this summer. Turned out great.

I'd been looking on-and-off locally for probably 2yrs and never saw a single one.

I got a call tonight from the guy at Sigarms who is in charge of the contest I won the gun from. He called Specialty Sports today to make sure they wouldn't have a problem doing the transfer for the gun I won.

He said when he called there, a pleasant young man answered, and said it should be no problem, but had to talk to the owner. Sigarms guy said Craig came to the phone and in response to how are you today, I'm Paul from Sigarms, Craig said NO. Not no to the transfer, but just NO to how are you today. Paul from Sigarms told me he was not very nice, seemed particularly grouchy, but did say fine, he'll do the transfer.
Does anyone know if he's the owner, and is he really a grouchass, or just having a bad day? I do know in business, it's generally not a good idea to be rude to your venders, because they won't include you in promo's or freebies, or even getting you hard to find items to sell.

Ok, just reread this whole thread. So Jeff owns the place, so Craig must be one of the managers?? Or Paul From Sig got the name wrong. Either way, the younger sounding man was very cool to Paul, and the older man (Craig) was a grouchass. Either way, the selection is very good although pricey. I like going there to shop. That's why I was happy Paul said Specialty Sports was on the list of their dealers they can send the gun to.

    Default Facts

Car-15 ~ isn't Artic a pawn shop, I would HOPE your guns were cheaper if someone else has already used it , beat the crap out of it, oh and last a few intrigual springs, which I am pretty sure you'll be needing a place like specialty sports to fix.

Robsterclaw ~ SO you are receiving a gun for FREE, did you ever ask Specialty Sports to handle the transfer for you, or were they called by Sigarms out of the blue probably while there was a line of real customers AND 5 others patiently waiting for their background checks to go through? If I was a gunshop dealer I wouldn't even do a transfer for anyone, it takes up a lot of time, and liabilty for NOTHING. Besides I know for a fact NO one named Craig works there or has in the past. You might start praying that the SIGARMS rep got the address and other information better before they send it off to no mans land.

I personally feel lucky to have such an amazing store located within 100 miles of me. Although my hand might not be held everytime I go into that shop (because there are 6 employees and 50 customers), and thousands of gun to look at, when I need help and I can PRY the salesman away from someone talking about their last purchase IN 1979. (I can;t believe the crap they nicely listen to some people talk about.) I always get the best information and help. If I am weighing two different guns, they always can tell me the pros and cons, and I have always been happy with my purchases!

Long story, but it makes me mad to see people complaining about such a great group of people!

for your info all my purchases were new, they have not been a pawn shop since their move 4-5 years ago. if you would like to start a personal problem im me, I will be more than happy to take you up on your offer, btw nice first post, attacking 2 members in a dealer review forum. no business can make everyone happy, if they pay their bills and have money left over to live they are making enough of them happy to be successful, good for them.
