I love the store because it is big and has lots of stuff, but that's about it.
The guys there are very "knowledgeable" in that they are always quick to give a definite answer. Unfortunately the answer is not always correct IMHO. I have bought a few guns from them - but I can't bring myself to shop there anymore. Their prices are often absurd (i.e. they could order it from Cabela's with no discount, put it on their shelves and still make a profit) which would be okay if they really knew their stuff. If they don't have it - "it isn't made". If they don't know what they are talking about - "you don't know what you are talking about". I understand (having been on the dealer side of the table) that a lot of gun buyers are "know it all types that don't" but some of the stuff is just out of line on their part. If you don't know the answer say it - I wince at the thought of some of the "knowledge" they are passing onto people new to the gun world who don't check it out.
I asked if they had a Galco SOB holster for a Glock 29 and was met with an instant "they don't make one for the 29, SOB holsters are bad anyway here's a good one.....". They do.
I overhear them telling people that while it is illegal to carry a gun in your car in Colorado, its okay because the police never check. -
(3) (a) a person who may lawfully possess a handgun may carry a handgun under the following circumstances without obtaining a permit and the handgun shall not be considered concealed:
(I) the handgun is in the possession of a person who is in a private automobile or in some other private means of conveyance and who carries the handgun for a legal use, including self-defense.
Ask if the gun is DAO or DA/SA - "its semi automatic, and machine guns are illegal to own" -
That stuff is okay at Walmart - but I have a hard time dealing with the arrogance, lack of knowledge, high prices combo. Ehh.
