The only significant gun law in 1986 was the FOPA (Firearm Owner's Protection Act), and the only objectionable clause was the Hughes Amendment, 18 USC 922(o), which banned new machineguns.

No, there's currently nothing afoot to repeal 922(o).

it will never happen, you saw what happened when the AWB sunseted didnt you? what do you think will happen if someone says they want to lift the new manufacture ban on MGs, that most people think are banned altogether. even if someone would introduce a bill, which nobody will because it would be the end of their career, it would get shot down so fast it woudnt be funny. youd have every anti and their mothers on the streets saying the streets will run red with the blood form the new unbanned MGs and that if the law goes through everybody will be shot from the hail of bullets that will insue. everybody will believe this because the general public is very uninformed and generally with the liberal media the antis will be heard more than the gun people, the antis are usually louder and better at propaganda anyway. it would a die a slow death and never get passed. but it wouldnt get that far. does everybody remember when the AWB was sunsetting the were a few instances that AWs were "mistankenly" called machine guns. these are not mistakes, they are carefully calculated bits of misinformation placed in the publics mind to meet an end goal. thats just the antis also, what do you think all the collectors are gonna say when theres a bill that coming through that woule esentially make all their expensive gun basically worth no more than anyother one. after saying all that id love the the ban to be lifted, im just not holding my breath.

you know, i ws thinking, how about takling something a little easier, like the 1989 ban on imported "assault" rifles. this may be possible. what do you think. id be nice to have some 550s, fncs, HK and what not to give some competition to the ARs. sure there out there but there all over 3k and thats a lot for a stock gun if you ask me, unless its FA that is

I hear you, but at least with the AWB dead, there's a brisk home grown industry making clones. The Arsenal guys did it right. They picked up much of their Bulgarian production and moved it stateside. Even FN is playing that game. This stupid barrel ban is just going to accellerate the cottage industry here.

There's some pretty creative stuff coming out of Vector Arms. If you nuts enough, they'll make you a G3 style pistol, LOL!

I know one of the founders (Rex Merrill). Stand up guy.

who are they? are you talking about DSA? if not whats the website?

and vector ive seen their stuff on the internet, but never in person. is it quality? the only thing is id like one of the G3 clones with a 20 inch barrel.

FN or someone creative out there needs to make an american produced FNC, id like one if those. hopefully sig also makes a domestic 550, not the 556 there coming out with, its hidious. maybe after the rush from everyone to buy the new 556 there make a 550 clone for those of us that dont like the 556 and want a classic 550, but dont have 10k the get one.
