Just moved back from out of state thanks for any info....
Last I heard, no, but it changes with every sheriff. Just call and ask. Welcome home. Karl.
Sheriff Mink will sign, but be prepared to get an in-home visit from the investigations bureau your first time through. They vet all forms before he will sign.
The guy to send your forms to is Sgt Webb (no kidding). Expect a month or more to process. Also, when he calls you to pick them up don't tell him to mail them. That added a week. I promise you that you won't be on their high priority list.
Webb took over in 2004 and the 1 week turn arounds typical of his predecessor Sgt. Ester stopped cold.
Stone was a problem, wouldn't sign for anybody. He is thankfully gone.
Anyhow, if any of you have different recent experiences, please let me know. Maybe I'm just "special"![]()
Sgt. Ester is who processed my forms last time and Mink was the sheriff. It only took 2 weeks to get my forms back from the time I dropped them off and he mailed them to me. This was October of 2004
This was also my first transfer.
They never came to my house or gave me any problems. I talked to sherrif Mink at the open house last summer. I thanked him for signing my form 4's his response was and I quote "No problem, I have no problem with my law abiding citizens owning any weapons they want".
I have no idea where you got your info or if it happened to you why it did. I sure didn't have those problems and I will be dropping off 2 more form 4's very shortley will let everybody know what comes of it.

I made a mistake in my earlier post. Webb took over in Jan 2005.
Please let us know how it goes!
Well this is a first. I just got two forms 4 back approved 17 days after they went pending! I do believe Jeffco took longer this time around than the ATF!
Who was your examiner? That is great! :mrgreen:Originally Posted by MuzzleFlash

Andrew Ashton if I can read his signature correctly.
AA? Maybe Anton Aggurs? That was mine a few years back anyway. Do the stamps have AA on them? Karl.
Nah, that guy is gone. The stamps do have AA on them.
They used to have this letter on the ATF site a few months back and I can't find it anymore. Luckily, someone cached it:
